Tagliatelle with Italian Sausage

I love a good, simple pasta dish. I also love the thick ribbons of tagliatelle! There is something about their width that make a dish look more appetizing to me. I was really in the mood for a white creamy sauce to go with this and make it a little cheesy also. The result turned out to be one of my best pasta dishes yet. While we hand-made the pasta (and when I say we, I mean that Walter made is while I made the sausage and sauce), you can pick up a nice tagliatelle at your local market.

Tagliatelle with Italian Sausage

Simple but delicious pasta dish.

Ingredients:

1 pound Italian sausage
3 cups Bechamel Sauce (recipe below)
1 cup grated Parmesan
1 pound Tagliatelle
  olive oil

Directions:

Brown Italian sausage. Set aside.

Cook pasta according to directions (or if you are daring, make your own and cut to a 1/4 width and cook for 3 minutes in salted boiling water).

Toss cooked pasta in a little olive oil to keep from sticking together. Pour in béchamel sauce over pasta. Toss together to blend. Add sausage and Parmesan cheese. Toss together until combined.

Serve immediately.

Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup flour
3 pinches nutmeg
2 1/2 cups milk
1 bay leaf
1 pinch red pepper flakes

Directions:

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.

Add flour and nutmeg. Stir well and cook about 2 min.

Remove from heat and slowly add milk while whisking to combine and keep creamy to avoid lumps. Add red pepper flakes and bay leaf and return to heat. Cook until sauce begins to thicken. Remove from heat. Discard bay leaf.

  1. Hi there! This recipe looks delicious! I found your website on Vote Recipe and I just had to check it out. You had me at, “we made homemade noodles for this…” and I must say, I like your style! I thought my husband and I were the only ones crazy enough to make our own pasta! We actually try to make everything from scratch as much as possible, so your site is a welcome change to most everything out there. Well done ~ You’ve got a new follower 🙂
